A Grain Train On The Plains

age 4 through 5th grade

Power Connection is our Children's Church ministry where we strive to help children make a connection with Jesus by teaching about and showing them Jesus’ love. We provide a safe and fun environment with age appropriate lessons, games, songs, and activities for ages 4 years old through 5th grade. Our goal is to offer a fun environment where the kids can really connect with Jesus, Power Connection leaders, and with other kids. Kids can have a powerful connection with Jesus and we want to help them connect!

We are excited that we have added a special class just for our preschoolers! We understand that moving, playing, and experimenting helps our littles learn and we are happy to allow them to do that in  an environment that is created just for them. During our 9:00 service we are pleased to offer a preschool class with teachers who are excited to teach preschoolers about Jesus and how much He loves them. The kids will enjoy hands on games, and crafts all the while not knowing that they are learning about the God who loves them and cares for them.

ages 0-3 years

Nursery...A Child's first Church. It is our belief that the short time children spend in Sparks each week should be different from any other childcare setting. We want to invest and minister to these precious youngsters ages birth to 3 years old. Obviously, much of the time will be spent caring for their physical needs and merely playing, but it is important for them to hear the stories of Jesus and His amazing love for them. We believe the seeds that are sown into young lives now will reap huge dividends in the future.

6th-12th grade

5th Street Youth is our youth ministry at Sterling Foursquare for grades 6th through 12th grade.  As a ministry, they exist to: Discover God's Purpose for our lives as we grow in love and the knowledge of HIm, sharing with others the love and light we have received.

Junior High and High School meet together every Sunday morning during the 2nd service. They join the church for worship in the main sanctuary and then dismiss during greeting time into the Youth Room (in the basement) where they study the Bible and do a fun game or activity.

5th Street also has its own Connect Group, that is available for 6th-12th grade students. There, youth will gather with other youth and leaders and discuss Sunday messages while building relationships with each other and Christ.

The Worship Team exists first to worship God and second to lead the congregation in worshiping God. This team consists of those playing various instruments and those singing for our Sunday services.

Before joining the team, instrumentalists should know how to read chord charts and have basic music proficiency. Vocalists should be able to sing on key and to learn new songs quickly. Being able to harmonize is a plus but not required.

Practices are scheduled on Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 pm and Sundays at 8:15 am. Team members are requested to be at the scheduled practices for the week they are playing or singing.

If you have a desire to get involved in worship ministry, the first step in the process is to contact Pastor Beth.

The Sound & Media Team believes in utilizing the latest technology to help spread the Gospel message. This team consists of those running the soundboard, media slides, and sermon recordings for our Sunday & Wednesday services.

You don’t need a technical background in order to be in this ministry. All you need is a willing heart and a desire to help serve in the body of Christ. All positions are easily learned.

If you have a desire for this type of ministry, please contact team leaders Andrew & Dondi Duell.

(Hospitality, Ushers, Greeters)

Our H.U.G. Team is designed to exemplify God’s heart for His people by creating and initial welcoming atmosphere for all who come to Sterling Foursquare Church to experience the Good News of Jesus.

Specifically, the Hospitality folks set up and refresh the coffee and treats to be served at our Hospitality Table on Sunday mornings.

Our Ushers greet and seat people, hand out bulletins, take the offering, give “need to know” information such as bathroom location, specific children ministry info, and assist people with special needs.

Our Greeters, greet people at the front doors. They open the door and focus on welcoming guests. They serve to direct new people and assist people with special needs from the parking lot.

If you would like to be a part of the H.U.G. team, please contact Pastors Bob and Kimily Duffield.

Everything we do, whether in word or deed, touches and affects another person's life. If you like to impact the lives of others around you and enjoy cleaning and tidying up, then the clean team is the perfect fit for you. Our goal is to create a clean, warm, and friendly environment where all feel welcome.

If you are interested and would like to be involved, please contact the church office. We believe in doing church as a team and we will find a team for you to work with. Teams are set up on a rotating schedule and many hands make light work.

We believe that one of our responsibilities as the body of Christ is to help those who are in need. In order to do this, we offer a benevolence ministry to come alongside and assist those who are struggling in these areas.

The benevolence ministry is funded solely on donations from the church family. If God has placed it on your heart to assist with the need of this ministry, you may place a gift in the offering basket designating it for the benevolence fund.
