Our Structure
How we relate here in Sterling....
Our relational structures begin here at home. Our church is a modified episcopal structure. That means that we have a strong episcopal leadership base (Senior Pastor), a presbryterian base, (church council) and a congregational base (the members expressing their views through the annual elections and meeting).
In our movement, pastors are appointed through a District structure. Church finances and facilities as well as the stewardship of the vision is facilitated through a Church Council or as we call it, the Servant's Council. Major property issues are voted upon by the full membership of the congregation.
Our Next Level of Relationship
The next level that we relate to is our division. We are a part of the High Plains Division, a sub section of the Rocky Mountain District of Foursquare Churches. In each of these, we relate to a leader and a group of churches. Pastor Mike Kinney is the leader of the High Plains Division as well as being the pastor of the Akron Foursquare Church. Other churches in our division are Akron, Fort Morgan, Buyers & Wiggins.
Our leader of the Rocky Mountain District is Pastor Jim Van Dyke, pastor of New Song Foursquare Church in Colorado Springs. Our District is comprised of the churches in Colorado with the exception of the Denver Metro area which is its own district.
The next level of relationship we have is corporately through the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Begun in 1927, the ICFG is a group of like minded churches who have associated together for the sending of missionaries and to see the nations evangelized. On the cornerstone of our very first structure are the words, "Dedcated to the cause of world wide, interdenominational evenagelism." Currently, Dr. Jack Hayford is our president.
